Still born 🦋

Silent flesh issues from her comfort harbour, tiny fair-haired girl, sweet rose bud lips, blue and still

Whispering sympathy blows around her as doctors stitch and nurses clean, so sad when it happens, this way

A life, one breath not even taken of this world oh why when a child so very wanted, a family to fulfill

A man waits nearby in the hallway just outside glorious anticipation melts to wrenching anguish, he was to become a father today

************

So terribly sorry, the doctor says, everything humanly possible, I understand how very difficult, fragmented sentences will not relieve the agony

A veil is lowered her tiny eyes shrouded will never see, the almost mother heard but cannot grasp, it slips away, she attempts to catch the tide

Come back it sweeps out so helpless come back, come back, all is lost forever future changed not as expected, no no, oh no, the tragedy

Her rose bud lips, unseeing eyes, unbreathing lungs, too soon a life undone, her place as first, her history brief, comfort womb her only home, rest assured you will not ever be denied

Dedicated to my sister 🦋
